Bill Swartz

Northwest Newsradio Reporter

Bill’s love for radio began with writing and delivering morning announcements during high school snack break. His impersonations, quick wit and passion for story-telling have informed and entertained Seattle radio listeners and live audiences since the early 1980’s.

Swartz started his first stint at Northwest Newsradio as the east King County beat reporter, and eventually became evening news anchor, then sports director.  He was sideline reporter and pre-game radio network host for the Washington Huskies football glory seasons.  Bill was also the first play-by-play voice for UW women’s basketball as well as the 1982 Kirkland Little League Baseball World Series team.

During his 10 years at KIRO radio, ‘Sports with Swartz’ covered all the major teams and events, including three Seahawks Super Bowl trips and birth of the Seattle Sounders MLS franchise.  He earned the 2012 Edward R. Murrow regional award for audio sports reporting.

As host of KOMO’s Thursday Night Dawg House show, Bill won the 2019 Associated Press best sports show, coverage and reporting for all major market radio stations in the Western United States.  He’s currently host of Northwest Newsradio’s Sunday morning public affairs show, Puget Sound Now.

Bill and wife Connie are avid walkers and enjoy relaxing in wine country and the beach.
